Hi-De-Ho!

Today I am midget-less.
Sad face :(
Honey and Buddy are at their climate controlled daycare while I am trying to escape the heat at the shops. It's the second day of a 40 degree plus heat wave here in Bendigo and my house has poxy cooling, it ends up cheaper for me to hang out at the shops buying snacks and magazines than run the ceiling fans at home. In fact, I'm having my own personal film festival at the cinemas - yesterday was Saving Mr Banks, today is Anchorman, and tomorrow I may get past the idea that I am going to the movies more than once every six months and see Frozen. Or perhaps The Secret Life of Walter Mitty?
Oh! The possibilities.

Review: Wreck-It Ralph

Source
Honey, Buddy, The Man and I have just gotten home from the Eppalock Open Air Cinema where we saw 'Wreck-It Ralph'...

How cool is this movie?

I grew up having very VERY little experience of gaming - I think I played the odd game of Donkey Kong or Pokemon on a Gameboy, I think I played Tetris once or twice on a friends Nintendo, and Pacman once.

As a result I am very devoid of any gaming knowledge, which might have helped with watching this movie, but it didn't matter.

Was thrilled that Kenneth Parcell (30 Rock), Cal Naughton Jnr. (Talledega Nights), Sue Sylvester (Glee) and Ned Schneebly's annoying girlfriend (School of Rock) all had roles in it.

*Aware that all these are characters on TV and movies, but, er, I don't go 'Wow bazinga! That is John C.Reilly! No. I think 'WOOO! It's Cal Naughton Jnr!' There you go, a little bit of insight into my viewing habits - I like funny.

So it is quite amusing that I am married to an epic gaming enthusiast. Between him and his brothers, I think they have every gaming console known to man, and they know how to play them all. OK, maybe not ALL consoles known to man, but a lot, and to someone who was giddy when she bought a Nintendo Wii when she was 26, their collection of games and consoles is impressive.

But back to the movie - it was so so good! It was funny, it had grown up jokes for the parents (oh God, yes I am a parent, and this is the type of film made for me to take Honey to) while being entertaining for the little people.

And I am not sure what the rules are for the Eppalock Cinema, but we took Dominos in with us, and ate them while we watched the film. It was chilly because a cold breeze was coming off the lake (also because I had significant exposure of skin surface due to Buddy also wanting to chow down during the film. Honey just settled for squirming on The Man's lap for most of the time, except for a brief musical interlude in the first part of the film where she started dancing.

And it's a Disney movie! There was a short cartoon. The Paperman, that preceded the main film which was quite cute, and if I saw THAT without anything else, I'd probably know it was a Disney animation, but if I had have just seen the main film, I probably wouldn't have known.

But in short, it was a fantastic movie, and I loved it.

Four and a half stars.

Page views and excuses

This blog has been viewed over 1000 times! And only about 500 of those views were me admiring the midgets and my stellar photography.

Um, yeah, I haven't posted any photo bombs for the last three days but I have a really good excuse/s!

On Friday (18 Jan) I went to see Skyfall with The Man, and on my way home, the tyre on the car exploded. BOOM! This was after I almost hit a kangaroo (bloody kangaroos) that was sitting by the side of the road. So braking not to hit Skippy probably shortened the life of my tyre, and then it just died at the top of View Street Bendigo, so then me and The Man were emptying out the boot, trying to get the spare tyre out, and the jack, and the tyre iron, changing the tyre and getting home at 2am, and by then I was over even staying awake so I went to bed.

Then yesterday (19 Jan) we went down to Melbourne for my brother's birthday, bought The Man some Kevlar jeans, went to see what used to be my primary school and is now just a whole lot of nothing and then made him drive along Main Street, Northcote with Celine Dion pumping, and ended up at the hospital to visit The Man's grandpa, and we got home at 11:30 and POW! I crashed out again.

Today I've just been lazy and figured I'd wait until night time to sort out three days worth of pictures.

Javier Bardem as he is meant to look.

And so here I am. I've taken all the photos I am meant to take, and now I am perched on the couch watching Masterchef Professionals and the tennis, and ready to edit and post up photos so if you check this blog semi-regularly (maybe you are the person responsible for the other 500 page views?) you will see three posts appear in very quick succession, BAM! BAM! BAM!

Yeah, and in other news, saw Skyfall, my second ever Bond film (James Bond, not the modern classical violin music group). I thought the actual Skyfall (trying not to ruin it for anyone who's not seen the movie yet) was the most depressing thing I've ever seen. And Javier Bardem was the most unsettling looking person and really, if he was in the real world, with his appearance, how did he ever succeed in his career prior to what he was doing in the movie?

Obscure and non-movie-wrecky enough?

But enough faffing about, I am sorting out these photos so I can play Criminal Case on Facebook and then go to bed because that's how I roll on a Sunday night.
