Jan 7 - UPSIDE DOWN. I dangled upside down from my bed to take a picture of The Man who was so engrossed in the cricket (Big Bash? Ashes? Who cares - cricket sucks) that he didn't notice me doing it. |

Review: Wreck-It Ralph
Source |
How cool is this movie?
I grew up having very VERY little experience of gaming - I think I played the odd game of Donkey Kong or Pokemon on a Gameboy, I think I played Tetris once or twice on a friends Nintendo, and Pacman once.
As a result I am very devoid of any gaming knowledge, which might have helped with watching this movie, but it didn't matter.
Was thrilled that Kenneth Parcell (30 Rock), Cal Naughton Jnr. (Talledega Nights), Sue Sylvester (Glee) and Ned Schneebly's annoying girlfriend (School of Rock) all had roles in it.
*Aware that all these are characters on TV and movies, but, er, I don't go 'Wow bazinga! That is John C.Reilly! No. I think 'WOOO! It's Cal Naughton Jnr!' There you go, a little bit of insight into my viewing habits - I like funny.
So it is quite amusing that I am married to an epic gaming enthusiast. Between him and his brothers, I think they have every gaming console known to man, and they know how to play them all. OK, maybe not ALL consoles known to man, but a lot, and to someone who was giddy when she bought a Nintendo Wii when she was 26, their collection of games and consoles is impressive.
But back to the movie - it was so so good! It was funny, it had grown up jokes for the parents (oh God, yes I am a parent, and this is the type of film made for me to take Honey to) while being entertaining for the little people.
And I am not sure what the rules are for the Eppalock Cinema, but we took Dominos in with us, and ate them while we watched the film. It was chilly because a cold breeze was coming off the lake (also because I had significant exposure of skin surface due to Buddy also wanting to chow down during the film. Honey just settled for squirming on The Man's lap for most of the time, except for a brief musical interlude in the first part of the film where she started dancing.
And it's a Disney movie! There was a short cartoon. The Paperman, that preceded the main film which was quite cute, and if I saw THAT without anything else, I'd probably know it was a Disney animation, but if I had have just seen the main film, I probably wouldn't have known.
But in short, it was a fantastic movie, and I loved it.
Four and a half stars.

Page views and excuses
This blog has been viewed over 1000 times! And only about 500 of those views were me admiring the midgets and my stellar photography.
Um, yeah, I haven't posted any photo bombs for the last three days but I have a really good excuse/s!
On Friday (18 Jan) I went to see Skyfall with The Man, and on my way home, the tyre on the car exploded. BOOM! This was after I almost hit a kangaroo (bloody kangaroos) that was sitting by the side of the road. So braking not to hit Skippy probably shortened the life of my tyre, and then it just died at the top of View Street Bendigo, so then me and The Man were emptying out the boot, trying to get the spare tyre out, and the jack, and the tyre iron, changing the tyre and getting home at 2am, and by then I was over even staying awake so I went to bed.
Then yesterday (19 Jan) we went down to Melbourne for my brother's birthday, bought The Man some Kevlar jeans, went to see what used to be my primary school and is now just a whole lot of nothing and then made him drive along Main Street, Northcote with Celine Dion pumping, and ended up at the hospital to visit The Man's grandpa, and we got home at 11:30 and POW! I crashed out again.
Today I've just been lazy and figured I'd wait until night time to sort out three days worth of pictures.
And so here I am. I've taken all the photos I am meant to take, and now I am perched on the couch watching Masterchef Professionals and the tennis, and ready to edit and post up photos so if you check this blog semi-regularly (maybe you are the person responsible for the other 500 page views?) you will see three posts appear in very quick succession, BAM! BAM! BAM!
Yeah, and in other news, saw Skyfall, my second ever Bond film (James Bond, not the modern classical violin music group). I thought the actual Skyfall (trying not to ruin it for anyone who's not seen the movie yet) was the most depressing thing I've ever seen. And Javier Bardem was the most unsettling looking person and really, if he was in the real world, with his appearance, how did he ever succeed in his career prior to what he was doing in the movie?
Obscure and non-movie-wrecky enough?
But enough faffing about, I am sorting out these photos so I can play Criminal Case on Facebook and then go to bed because that's how I roll on a Sunday night.

Monday. Enough said.
So now I've been to the gym. Buddy woke up at 4:30am to make sure he was fed and back to bed before the gym opened. Usually he wakes up at 6-6:30am.
Gee thanks little man.
Now he is back asleep, but Honey is up. I think we can totally disregard what I said yesterday about the predictable nature of my children.
My arms feel sore, and floppy because I actually used them to exercise today. I was meant to do something or other, but ended up flailing my arms around towards the ground, and then up into the air. I am not very coordinated.
So now I am sitting on the couch watching Angelina Ballerina. I am using this early time of day to potty train Honey, and I've just had to do the potty dance to celebrate a successful wee. I also rewarded her with a TNCC Berry Bliss (a raspberry lolly but with a juicy inside). Didn't think we'd have any sub-breakfast wees any time soon, but in the interests of keeping things constant because Honey would commit serious crimes for a 'berry'.
In fact, she's brought me two unopened packets of 'berries' and now she's come and given me a hug and a kiss - which is lovely but I know she knows that flattery will get you to a lot of places. But won't get you an unearned lolly before breakfast time.
The Man is up and about, dealing with having two people up and bothering him when he is getting ready for work.
Today's plan is to take more photos of Buddy and Honey and something that is yellow for FatMumSlim. It is supposedly meant to be hot and I am dressed accordingly, but my weather app on my phone says its 12 degrees, and meant to be a top of 27 which is a poor excuse for a January day in Central Victoria.
Ah! There is the sound of my son calling me for food. I must go. I'll be back later with today's photo bomb.

Miss Rabbit - Wonderwoman
So as the parent of a toddler girl, we get our fair share of the kiddy TV shows.
Actually, we probably get less than our fair share of the TV shows because I am a mean mother and make Honey watch the shows I like.
Interestingly, one of Honey's first shows that she really liked was The Love Boat and even now she'll get her bad self down dancing to the theme.
Some of the shows that she watches are Giggle and Hoot, Chuggington, Thomas the Tank Engine (don't be telling me that he's just a train now. He is clearly a tank engine, even Wikipedia says so).
Another show that I don't think she is fussed about, but is always on my television is Peppa Pig.
Now I like Peppa. She is quite cute. I like her brother, and her father, Daddy Pig is quite funny and reminds me of The Man in that he claims to be an expert in many many different things.
The character I am most fascinated with though, is Miss Rabbit. I am astounded at the many different fields she actually IS an expert in. She works everywhere!
And I'm not the only person fascinated by her, or even the first to blog about her. BareNakedMummy has also written a post about this amazingly accomplished single mother (because ZOMG, not only does she work everywhere, she has baby bunnies too).
Some of the jobs that I have seen her perform on Peppa Pig are:
helicopter pilot, air hostess (it's the UK, so I think its OK to call her that), librarian, works at the aquarium, works in the moon shop selling moon cheese. There are a zillion other jobs I've seen her perform, but can't remember them right now.
And she works so hard that the Queen gave her a medal for being the hardest working person in her kingdom. Well deserved I would say!

The hotness
![]() |
It's 31 degrees right now. MADNESS! |
Buddy hates it and it upsets him so he wants to be cuddled, which makes him hotter, which makes him upset which makes him want a cuddle, and the vicious cycle goes on and on. The Man ended up taking him into the shower to cool him off, then put him in his bed to go to sleep before he warmed enough to realise that he was hot and angry.
Mwa ha ha! Well played The Man, well played.
I spent the afternoon today at the pool with the midgets, my Mum and my brother. Being the huge kid that I am, I got three goes on the Hoobie Tubie.
It turns out, when The Man told me that the bigger you are, the faster you go down the slide, he was right...
I am not a little person, and I was lined up behind two pre-teen kids in the waterslide. The girl who was in charge of telling you to go down the slide said it was OK to go, and so off I went.
As soon as I took off, I knew something was gravely wrong.
It sounded like those kids were right next to me in the slide. I thought 'Oh dear, this won't end well' and tried to slow myself down by grabbing the sides, and thinking slowing thoughts.
Didn't work.
I kept gaining momentum until I got to the very very end of the slide and the poor boy in front of me ended up in my lap. And then I landed on top of him in the pool at the end of the slide.
I had some warning about the imminent disaster, but the boy and his sister had the fright of their lives when a grown woman landed on top of them on the waterslide. Even as it was happening, I had snippets of Homer Simpson in the waterslide.

Almost the same, except I wanted to get stuck. And I am not mustard yellow.
Or a man.
|
And in other news, I bought Honey a cute little floatation vest for when she goes to the pool in case she falls over again. There was another boy wearing the same thing (because its a frog, and frogs come in boy and girl versions). She didn't really need it today, except for when she tried to slide off the back of the Big Red Car in the toddler pool and went head first into the pool. I told her not to do it but there is no reasoning with a toddler.
All the while, Buddy was dipping hi toes in the water and having a great time (as pictured in this photo bomb) until I made him SIT in the water and he didn't like getting his man bits wet.
Then we all went home and we are going back to the pool tomorrow for more coolness in the midst of this ridiculous Central Victorian heat.
