100 Days of Happiness

Yesterday I was 'researching' ideas for ninja midgets on/at Fat Mum Slim (because Chantelle has got some really good stuff on her blog) and I came across 100 Happy Days.

For the first time in years of blogging, I have had my hand slapped for posting up a photo that's not mine.
So if you you wanted to see the Shakshuka recipe that I posted last week, I've had to take it down because the photo I put with it came from the original recipe. Never mind I linked to it twice within the post.
Anyway, as I can't afford getting into a cyber brawl, I will wait until payday and then purchase more ingredients to make another batch.
Hmmmmmm....

Mmmm hmmm.

This is an o-l-d blog from 2011 called Cup O'Cake Designs. Lots of crafty baby gift things. The skull and crossbones here is pretty cool.

Ang Grams. The top post says that she has hidden this blog. Kind of like redirected mail I suppose. Anyway, I found it. It hasn't been posted on since 2010. Maybe I won't leave a message because it might be a bit weird to get a comment from a post you posted three years earlier.

Making things: Healthy Chocolate Cake

So as you know (or might not), I have been going to the gym.

To boot I have decided to start eating a 12WBT-ish diet which basically means I have googled a tonne of low-carb meals to eat. It means a lot of cooking, and I'm taking The Man along for the ride, but so far so good.

Except...

In the last week since I pretty much gave up Coke, potatoes and bread cold turkey, I have been waking up in the night dying for a sugar hit. It's madness! I wake up and creep around the house looking for chocolate or lollies or whatever I can get my sticky fingers on. In the morning The Man identifies what I've been nibbling on because I've left morsels of it everywhere. Ooops.

So I googled a recipe for a chocolate cake that was weight-loss friendly, and found this recipe for a chocolate cake at Healthy Indulgences.

I'll let you look at it, but it has a very surprising ingredient in it, that I had heaps of in my cupboard but never in my wildest imagination associated with chocolate cake.

It's a bit of a Choose Your Own Adventure recipe, with alternative combinations of ingredients depending on your preference.

I used coconut oil instead of butter, and I used honey and stevia for the sweetening. I also had to pretty much double the cooking time as the raw cake mixture is quite liquid.

I'd take a photo of it for you, but my iPhone has taken a walk and I can't find it**. When I do find it, I will post up a picture of the cake. But to describe it, it is very dark, and flattish, and I cooked it in a larger cake tin than I was meant to.

And as today, my beautiful child has had a gastric incident, I might just eat chocolate cake (for the sake of research) instead of cooking dinner. And I am very hungry so I don't expect the cake to last long. 

If you make the cake let me know how you went. Perhaps I did something wrong in the mixing to make it so liquid? Not sure.
**By the same token, today's photo bomb will be delayed as the pictures I took are on my phone. *sigh* the one time I did my pictures early.

You might have seen that all the pictures of Honey have a theme and that theme is that there are numbers in each of her pictures.

As today is the 16th January, I've hit a patch of uninspiration (it's a word, look it up), and I can't think of how I want to put the 16 into today's picture that I haven't already done, then I thought I'd make some number cookies and get V to decorate/eat them.

So zooming around the webs to find vegan-ish cookies to bake, I stumbled over this recipe at mama makes from scratch for Cinnamon Sugar Cookies which were totally not what I wanted to make, but I am a sucker for cinnamon. Once I bought an entire jar of cinnamon boiled lollies from the lolly shop at Sovereign Hill in Ballarat and revelled in their cinnamony spicy bitie-ness. The cookies from this recipe are similar to Mrs Field's Cookies, which I used to buy at Eastland in Melbourne, but I'm not sure where you get them now.

Anyway, I made these cookies and they are delicious! I left a comment on the blog saying so (if you've come from mama makes from scratch - HELLO!) however, I did change the recipe slightly to cater for Honey's food weirdness and used Nuttelex instead of the organic butter.

They must be alright because I've eaten a tray of them. Not good considering I am now a gym junkie.

The moral of this post: Make these biscuits and then eat them.

Miss Rabbit - Wonderwoman

So as the parent of a toddler girl, we get our fair share of the kiddy  TV shows.

Actually, we probably get less than our fair share of the TV shows because I am a mean mother and make Honey watch the shows I like.

Interestingly, one of Honey's first shows that she really liked was The Love Boat and even now she'll get her bad self down dancing to the theme.

Some of the shows that she watches are Giggle and Hoot, Chuggington, Thomas the Tank Engine (don't be telling me that he's just a train now. He is clearly a tank engine, even Wikipedia says so).

Another show that I don't think she is fussed about, but is always on my television is Peppa Pig.

Now I like Peppa. She is quite cute. I like her brother, and her father, Daddy Pig is quite funny and reminds me of The Man in that he claims to be an expert in many many different things.

The character I am most fascinated with though, is Miss Rabbit. I am astounded at the many different fields she actually IS an expert in. She works everywhere!

And I'm not the only person fascinated by her, or even the first to blog about her. BareNakedMummy has also written a post about this amazingly accomplished single mother (because ZOMG, not only does she work everywhere, she has baby bunnies too).

Some of the jobs that I have seen her perform on Peppa Pig are:
helicopter pilot, air hostess (it's the UK, so I think its OK to call her that), librarian, works at the aquarium, works in the moon shop selling moon cheese. There are a zillion other jobs I've seen her perform, but can't remember them right now.

And she works so hard that the Queen gave her a medal for being the hardest working person in her kingdom. Well deserved I would say!

Photography

In lieu of a real New Years Resolution, I want to take more photos of Honey and Buddy. And I've joined an awesome (and secret) Facebook group to hopefully get some pointers on how to take non-lame photos.

I've decided to do the FatMumSlim Photo A Day Challenge AND the 365 Project in the hopes that I'll take some nice shots. Still deciding if I'll combine the two. Also considering whether I'll take one photo of each of the midgets to see how they grow. Not sure yet, and hey, I've got like over four hours to decide how I want to approach this 'resolution'.
